Cross Networking events

Last Thursday we held an informal Wine Tasting networking event, as part of the five free events a year included for our members. The event was held at The Grove bar in Ashley Cross, Poole, and the venue did a fantastic job of organising the evening, and provided a spread of delicious wines accompanied by appropriate cheeses and nibbles.

The evening started early to allow all our members and guests the opportunity to attend, whether they came straight from work, or joined us later in the evening.




Other than our core members, it was great to see new faces at the event, and also to receive great feedback.  We look forward to seeing some of those new faces at this weeks Structured business breakfast.

It is important that we provide events for our members which are not only enjoyable, but beneficial.  We have regular discussions on the Cross Networking forum to see what our members want, and aim to accomodate each and every members needs.

Dorset Entrepreneurs Circle

Lloyd Morgan attended the first Entrepreneurs Circle meeting in Dorset, ran by Ali Carter (Cross Networking Member), at the Black Label conferencing facilities at AFC Bournemouth yesterday evening.

The event had a great turn out with a wide range of local 'entrepreneurs' attending to hear Ali's business advice.  The title for the meeting was 'The Seven Musts of Effective Marketing', and the group were keen to contribute to the talk, and many of the attendees passed on invaluable advice from their own experiences.

Ali Carter did a fantastic job of hosting the event, and getting everyone involved in the discussions, which resulted in a very interactive and productive seminar.

Lloyd said "Ive taken a lot away from the evening, and I will take a good look at the marketing strategies of my business, and hope to implement some of the suggested structures and monitoring systems to ensure the money I invest into marketing is utilised to its potential."

Wine Tasting Event

Cross Networking are hosting a wine tasting event, Thursday 26th May 2011, at The Grove Bar in Lower Parkstone (Ashley Cross), Poole. The event will include two 'Wine Tasting' sessions:

6.00-7.30pm - Informal Business Networking
&
7.30pm-late - Open to All

The early session is aimed at Business networkers attending after work, and whom may be driving, while the second session is for those who are available for an evening event.

This will be a fantastic event, and the second session will also be available to the public, making the event much more informal, and a great way of meeting a wider range of individuals, with whom to network.

Expanding the Business Network

Still in the early stages of the development of Cross Networking, we have formed links with local business circles, who over the past year have shown interest in developing a 'new', 'local' network.  The main circle we have integrated with are companies based in Lower Parkstone (also known as Ashley Cross), and the surrounding areas.

This morning the Cross Networking Team (Lucy Cooper and Lloyd Morgan), met with a group of individuals from the Lower Parkstone business circle, and discussed how we could utilise each others resources to form a stronger, more established network for local businesses.

The meeting was a great success, and as result going forward Cross Networking will be expanding and developing to incorporate the new businesses that are coming onboard.  This will include weekly business breakfasts in Poole, in addition to the bi-monthly meeting that Cross Networking currently offer.

Also, to help market the new business network in Poole and Bournemouth, we have utilised a new local business welovedeals.co.uk, ran by businessman Lee Nazari who attended our Launch event in March.  He has helped us by offering an exclusive one time only offer for reduced cost annual membership for one year.

We were keen to to market the network, but we did not want to devalue the membership.  This marketing choice was a great way to get the company logo seen, and help establish ourselves within the local business community.  The offer going live today will be shown to a large demographic in Poole and Bournemouth, and will run for a short period of time, with limited membership available under the offer.

With exciting prospects on the horizon for Cross Networking, we hope local businesses can see the possibilities, and utilise the platform that we have created, to form stronger links, and create business opportunities that will help the development of new and established companies locally.

Business Breakfast, Poole

Today Cross Networking host their first Business Breakfast at Grove Bar in Ashley Cross, Poole. The event had a fantastic spread of locally sourced fruit and pastries, and the Grove offered delicious fresh coffee to order.

The turn out was not as big as hoped, but the event saw lots of new faces, all of which were keen to be a part of the new informal business networking group, based in Poole and Bournemouth.

Great feedback from the event, and some exciting new interest in helping expand this new company.

DV8 Magazine Feature - Cross Networking

Last month we held our Launch Event, and it was a great success as previously mentioned, with a great response from everyone who attended.  One of which was the new Editor of DV8 Bournemouth Magazine, Anna Saywell.  She was so impressed with the event and company she has kindly made a feature for Cross Networking in the April edition of the magazine.

Meet the Team

Cross Networking was formed by two local business people, Lloyd Morgan and Lucy Cooper.



Lloyd Morgan runs a Poole based Video Production company called Lloyd Morgan Productions, producing promotional, corporate, event, and wedding videos across the UK.  Clients include Tesco, Fightline Supplements, England Rugby and United Through Sport Charity.

Lucy Cooper has recently formed her own HR Consultancy business called CoCo Consultancy.  Having worked for many years for HR Firms in London, she decided to leave the city life and set up on her own in Poole, Dorset.

Both individuals have a great deal of passion for business, and are keen networkers, but why did they form Cross Networking?

Lloyd says "Business Networking has become unaccessible for small businesses, not only due to the cost, but its traditional corporate attitudes.  When I first set up my company I was very keen to network, but local events weren't accommodating my needs.  I find networking in an informal environment much easier and more relaxing; its these opportunities that usually result in good contacts, which strengthen a companies network."

Cross Networking was created to accommodate for small to medium sized businesses, and will continue to develop and adapt to meet the requirements of its members.
